About Saferoad vRS
Saferoad operate all over the British Isles and are one of the country's leading specialists in the supply and installation of :-
Vehicle Restraint Systems (VRS)
Saferoad supply, install and repair all types of Vehicle Restraint System (VRS) that are fully compliant with BS EN 1317 and non-proprietary systems. We currently have our own suite of VRS (Megarail) that has been approved by the Highways Agency. This suite of systems can be installed in the majority of situations, but we are continuously researching and developing new innotive systems to compliment or improve our product. This includes a P4 terminal that only has two posts, can be used as a dual sided P4 and in the event of an impact can be replaced in as little as 20 minutes, so keeping installation and maintenance costs down. Because we actually install our own products and do not simply supply we are in a position to give first class technical advice to all our clients.
Steel and Aluminium Parapets
Saferoad supply, install and repair a variety of steel and aluminium parapet products from H4a through N2, N1 and transitions which are compliant with BS EN 1317. We also repair existing BS 6779 parapets that require remedial work due to decay or road traffic accidents. The parapets can be painted, or powder coated if required. We also offer retro-fit height extensions, anti-access panels, pedestrian guardrail and can undertake specialist projects.
Saferoad supply and install CE marked Environmental Barrier Systems (Structural) in accordance with BS EN 14388.
The CE marked systems includes timber single sided reflective, timber double sided reflective and timber absorbent barrier systems which can be installed on galvanized steel posts, the posts could also be powder coated or painted to the clients specification if required. Saferoad also offer an aluminium environmental barrier, this can only be mounted on galvanized steel posts, but these can also be powder coated or painted as required.
We also repair existing Environmental barriers.
Saferoad supply and install steel pile capping beam with or without edge protection and we also supply and install Handrail to BS 7818 classes 1, 2 & 3 and also to MCX 0138.
We supply and install a plethora of fencing in accordance with BS 1722, which includes but is not restricted to :-
Strained post and wire, Post and rail, Security fencing, Chainlink fencing, Deer, Rabbit, Badger and Newt fencing.
We run Sector Scheme 10b training courses for Megarail, Non-proprietary systems, Parapet systems and the Highways England Passport Scheme at our own Lantra approved training centre.
About Parapet Working width
Parapet systems with a working width of up to and including W4 are both perfectly acceptable on the National Highways and fully compliant with TD 19/06 & CD 377.
Within the Guidance on the use of the Road Restraint Risk Assessment Process (RRRAP) associated with TD 19/06 it states that designers should check and specify the greatest working width that meets the requirement of paragraphs 4.14 an 4.15 of TD 19/06 which may be greater than the default W2 the RRRAP returns.
All of our parapet systems are EN 1317 tested and comply fully with the requirements of TD 19/06, our parapet systems have also been designed so that they use their working width to absorb the high impact energy generated from a collision. During this time our vehicle parapet systems protect the driver or passenger whilst it contains and redirects the errant vehicle in a controlled and safe manner, at no point do the vehicle wheels leave the bridge plinth.
